Lies my toddler has told me...

"Daddy spit on the floor.  Right there (pointing to an area).  He spit there two times."

"I am going to work.  You have to stay here!"

"I NEED juice."

Me: What did you do at school today?  Sully:  I went swimming.

"I DON'T NEED A NAP!"

"I am Batman."

"I am on the Badgers."

Me:  Did you eat some vegetables?  Sully: Yeah I ate some fruit.

"I helped."

"I want something to eat."

"Daddy pooped on the floor."

Me:  Are you pooping?  Sully:  No (as his face turns red and he braces himself against the coffee table)

"I can't eat that, it's too spicy/hot."

"I gotta go potty."

"Daddy sings better."

'Round Here

This weekend we went to Mosinee to attend a pig roast hosted by my SIL's family.  But before we went there, we had some business to take care of.  My dad has a new shed.  When he poured the concrete for the inside, my mom, niece, Harlie, and nephews, Jack and Jerry, were able to add their hand prints.  Sully was not there so my dad whipped up a little section of concrete just for him...

Just a little waverunner repair while the cement sets...

 Note the drool.

And then we were off to the pig roast.

Not sure how it happened, but all the boy cousins were wearing red shirts, too cute.

And there it is, the pig is out!  The next few hours were spent removing the stuffing out of the pig and dissecting the meat from the carcass while a small crowd huddled around, eating meat off the bone.  I can't believe I didn't get a pic of the carving.  Oh well.

Addiction...

It may already be well known that I have an addiction to finding and collecting vintage Fisher Price Little People toys.  However, I recently went on another eBay bidding spree and snagged 3 new buildings with accessories.  I am working up to a whole village and then someday I will have one room in my house devoted to having it set up full-time.  Too much?  Anyway, I came home to a big box on my doorstep today and seized the opportunity to use it to bribe my child into eating a somewhat balanced dinner: small bowl of spaghetti, 3 squirts of applesauce squeezee in the mouth and some cheese and crackers.

Then we opened the "present"

 A children's hospital...

 "He's on the roof."

Yes, that crank is for an elevator.

 And an A frame...

Complete with rug, full kitchen, fireplace, glass sliding doors, dinner bell and a variety of decks and balconies.

I could not pass up the A frame because it reminds me of one of our annual Kosloski/Groth weekends, as in the one last year, when we lost our dog.  But is was still super fun and the neighbor, whom is also good friend of the Koslos, lived in an A frame so we did spend a good amount of time over there and swimming and fishing off of his dock.

There is still one more gem I am waiting for but I had to share these immediately!

PS- Have you watched the movie Behind the Candelabra yet?  I am pretty sure the Michael Douglas deserves an award.  He was fantastic!

Curtain Crazy

There is something about curtains that I think are so comforting.  They soften a room and add more dimension as well as height and color.  Now I realize that curtains are not for everyone, but in my house, I simply cannot live without them.  Yet another quirk of mine.

Even better, blinds + curtains...

I apologize for the crappy quality of some of these pics. By no means do I have any idea how to take room pics and I don't own a wide angle lens.

I got these lovelies from World Market 1-2 years ago.  Apparently they did not have enough detail so I added some pom pom fringe.  I have an addiction to embellishments- there is more evidence to come...

The curtains in our living room are also from World Market.  And yes, I did add the ribbon trim embellishment.

We will be replacing this stupid french door with a sliding door this summer or fall.  I can't wait!

Finally, these curtains in my craft room I made from one curtain from Pier 1 that I cut in half and added some length to the bottom with more fabric.

There are only 3 windows in my house that do not have curtains, two in the living room that have wooden blinds and one in the kitchen that has a bamboo shade.  Yeah, we like it dark.  I also have a hubs that is convinced that the neighbors have nothing better to do than to gaze into our windows at all times of the day.  Either way, we are both more comfortable with lots of window coverings.
