Spring is here...for 5 minutes.

Mother nature has given us an evil teaser of spring this past weekend, here in southern Wisconsin.  I say evil because the next snow storm is scheduled to hit tonight.  Grrrr.  Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.  But the weekend weather has me wanting to rid my house of every last winter decoration in favor of greens and light colors.  Cozy plaid throws and fuzzy pillows must go!

I picked up two packages of dried greens from Hobby Lobby about 2 weeks ago when they were 50% off.

You actually get quite a good amount of greens with these and I was able to spread them throughout the house.

I split them up in vases and glass bottles and even stuck some in a wreath.

I still love my Rosemary plant that I got during Christmas (and its still alive!!)!

I took down all my red from my shelves and added some blue accents with some faux greens.

That cake stand with the blue base can be found in the $1 section at Target.  They are actually $5.  

I even had some left over the decorate my floating shelf in my living room.

This change in weather is giving me some much needed motivation for getting some kitchen projects completed.  We finally bought a new dishwasher which will be delivered and installed next Monday.  I am itching to get the island completed and tackle replacing the counter tops and installing the new-to-us sink and faucet (which I bought off Craigslist like 2 years ago!).  Now to see when my favorite handyman is available to help;)

Are you there, Spring??

After months of not feeling inspired to do any sort of decorating, I had a sudden urge to finally take down the lingering Christmas decorations and get some spring/summer stuff up.  Never mind that it was mid-March, I welcomed the fact that it actually happened after being decorating dormant for too long.  See spring vignette 2013 and 2012.

I did buy a new wreath but everything else is re-used/recycled from other years.

 

I used a fake plant this year since I failed miserably at keeping the Jade plant from last year alive.

Why wouldn't one use a Jodi Picoult book along with a Zombie survival guide in one's spring vignette?  Normal.

My gnome guys are back.  I wonder if they know the nice gnome family that so kindly gave up their gnome baby to us?

She is just soooo tiny still, I swear she is a little gnome baby.

Got this done just in time for our weekend visitors.

And now we just need spring to arrive.

Mossin' around

Yeah, pretty cheesy but I could not help myself!  Now that the winter decor is gone, the house needs some springing up.  So I picked up some moss today at Hobby Lobby and got to work on my spring vignette (you saw it right, vignette).

Note the candle tea cup.  One of my patient's actually made that for me and I get free candle refills!!

The item below is on our "fireplace" mantel.  Love.

Yes, I know the mirror is silverish and the G is gold but I like it that way.  I am a fan of mixing metallics, it looks less matchy-matchy and more collected and comfortable.  Try it, you will like it!  I am considering making a cute little bunting banner to put somewhere.  We will see if that gets done.  

The Sullymon had his 15 month appointment today.  The little peanut, only 6% for weight and 21% for height.  He makes up for the small size with personality, and oh that temper...





Little dude also has 2 ear infections:(  That explains the waking up at night lately!

Alive

The other day I was looking at my complexion in the mirror and I thought to myself, "Man, I look dead."  My under eye bags are out of control- bigger and darker than ever, my skin is a nice shade of pasty which makes any blemish stick out like a sore thumb.  Not good, not good at all.

What is a girl to do about it?  Go shopping at Sephora, of course.  The "color expert" helped me pick out this.

And I must say, it seems to be helping the situation.  Not only do I look alive, but also awake and somewhat rested.

Spring is just around the corner, so I have also infused my wardrobe with some new, fun, colorful items this week.  My spring colors are jewel-tone green, navy and orange.  But my favorite buy for spring?  These little lovelies...



That's right, rain galoshes.  Now me and Sully can go puddle jumping in style this spring.  I have also been stocking up on lots of chalk and bubbles because chalk+bubbles+rain galoshes=spring.  You can trust me, my favorite subject is math so that equation is 100% accurate.

This weekend I have been pretty serious at removing winter from the house.  Dark winter linens and curtains have been replaced with lighter, more airy options.  And every last glittery snowflake has been banished to the  basement storage.  So lets go spring, I am ready for you and I have big, big plans for you.
