Valentine

This is how I watched the Grammys.  Writing out said Target-bought Valentines.

Yes, it does come with a tatoo!

And little heart stickers for closure.

Then today, I borrowed an idea from Pinterest and it worked!

Hilary, I found a smaller heart cookie cutter today.

Yes, this causes a lot of waste and yes, I ate most of it.  Yes, I feel sick.

These are killing me.  They are seriously so adorable!

Guess who is all ready for Valentine's Day?

This guy!

Happy day!

Hoodie Towels

Seeing as how the Sul will be turning 2 in about two months, I decided it was time to stop smashing him into his baby hooded towels (even though I love them and they are soooo cute).  I am sure most normal parents would have stopped using these long ago, but I am not normal.

As luck would have it, I came across this pin on Pinterest.

So I went to Kohls and got 3 big ones towels with coordinating hand towels and then gathered some ribbon I already had.

I followed all of the the steps as listed in the tutorial.  However, I did not do any pinning, I am too lazy for that.

Here is what I had:

Note to self:  If I were to ever make these in the future, I would try to find hand towels without that detail a few inches from the edge as I think it would look better to not have that showing.  Since posting these, I have decided to do some quick appliques over that area so you won't even know it is there.

I had to embellish them a bit more and cover up the hand towel detail.  Now this is the final product.

Holy cow, aren't they cute!  They are killing me!

I must admit, I broke 3 or 4 regular needles in my machine sewing these.  Once I burned through all of those, I found some more heavy duty needles and I was able to finish the last one without any needle breakages.

Then it was time to test them out!

Fun in the bath!  Extra points for you if you can spot the hemangioma!

Someone was not happy with the photo shoot so this was the best I could do for a shot of how long it comes down.

It actually drags on the ground a bit when he is standing.  So I figure he can use these until he is about 10.

This project gave me a great idea for a homemade Nemo costume!

Pumpkin Hoarder

As I type this, my arms are shaking.  Sully has been in quite the mood today.  You know the mood where if your mother sets you down, you think the world might end?  Yeah, that one.  So I have been holding him all.day.long.  It is moods like this that I did not anticipate before I became a parent.  I so foolishly convinced myself I would be a master at the art of distraction and I would be able to get everything done that I want to do while my child plays quietly by himself.  Completely delusional.  Finally, I gave up and we are on the couch watching a Spongebob marathon.

But not before I managed to whip up some homemade granola bars (hence the shaking arms)!

I have been wanting to make some homemade granola for some time now.  So I searched Pinterest and Google and decided on this recipe which I found here.

This is what the recipe called for:

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup wheat germ
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup raisins (optional)
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

When I was raiding my pantry for ingredients, I found these:

Apparently, I have been hoarding canned pumpkin.  No, none of them are expired.  So I was determined to use some in the granola bars, to make them extra fall-y.  I like to read the comments after recipes as they always have great ideas and one of the comments mentioned using canned pumpkin so I knew I could do it!

Here are the ingredients I did use:

  • 1 cup each of Old fashioned oats and instant oats
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup wheat germ
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 3/4 cup raisins (optional)
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin

Have you ever tried to get all the hard lumps out of your brown sugar then mix dry and wet ingredients with a toddler on your hip?  It's hard!  So I had to intermittently put him down which immediately resulted in this:

Somehow I was able to get to this point and threw it in the oven for 20-25 minutes (I thought the 30-35 minutes that they suggested would result in granola that was too hard).

Once they finish cooling, I will throw them in a big ziploc bag and we will have a delicious breakfast this week.  They are nice and soft, yummy and fall-y.

I also want to try this Pumpkin Frappe recipe and this Pumpkin muffin recipe from Pinterest.  That should use up all this canned pumpkin....then I can go buy more.

Week in Review

Overall, it was a pretty good week.  The little Mister got lots of Valentines.  And why wouldn't he?  Mr adorbs that he his.

Typical parent face during bath/splash time.

We did a quick Target run on friday and had lots of fun with our new purchase in the aisles.

Gamma and Papa came to visit today.

While the boy napped, my parents and I went to the antiques mall and saw this little gem.

My mom and I were like Elf, jumped from fear when the jack popped up.  I absolutely did not buy this, don't worry.

Then tonight I did a Pinspired craft.

I was going to use real doilies but I had these paper ones so I thought I would Mod Podge them to the mason jars.

It still turned out super cute and I love them!

This marks my 100th blog post.  Thank you to all of my readers!

Monday Funday

I am so lucky, I always get a Monday Funday after my Sunday Funday.

This Monday started out with a 7 am grocery shopping trip.  It was not my proudest moment, but I will share with all of you to save you a possible embarrassing situation.  FYI they will not sell you alcohol before 8 am.  Not even boxed wine.  Yeah, I had no idea and I felt like saying, "I promise I won't start drinking any of it until well after 8 am."  But I refrained and just went on my way.

Then, I saw this school bus in the ditch.

Then, Sully got to meet Harper!!  Remember Harper?

As you can see, she is doing FANTASTIC!!  They were so cute.  Sully did so good, no baby stomping or anything.  He layed there so nice and even offered up his thumb for Harper if she was interested.  It was very cute!

After Harper and her mama left and Sully woke from his nap, we tried out the sled.  Lets just say some one LOVED it!

And finally, I wanted to redo the pinterest inspired print I had made a little while ago.

Here is what it looked like the first time.

And here is the redo.

Much better.  I had to do it on Picnik.  You can find the instructions here.

It was a busy day!
